The project manager team

Each project will have a team of people working on it, here are the main roles involved in making a project a success:

  • The project sponsor – this is the middle person between the client and the project manager and will be the person the project manager will report t0.
  • The project manager – a project manager will manage the whole project including the various team members.
  • The client – this is the end client that the project is being carried out for.
  • The project team – this will include all team members working on a project and will vary for each project. For example, a project on creating a new software will require a number of developers working on it.

The role of the project manager is incredibly important to a project and that is why the right person has to be hired to carry out the job. Here are some of the typical roles and responsibilities of a project manager:

  • Creating a project manager
  • Creating a budget for the project with the input from the project sponsor and client
  • Liaising with the project sponsor and other key stakeholders
  • Managing the project team (leading and motivating them)
  • Managing the budget and resources of the project
  • Sourcing the resources needed
  • Continuously monitoring the project and implementing any necessary changes
